This past Memorial Day Weekend I had the privilege of singing the National Anthem at the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair. The Devon Horse Show is, “The oldest and largest outdoor multi-breed competition in the United States.” It also benefits the Bryn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, PA, with all show proceeds going towards the hospital. My family and I have been attending this show for as long as I can remember. It’s one of those summer rights of passage in our house. So to be able to sing the National Anthem, on Memorial Day weekend, no less, was an absolute honor-and a lot of fun!

So far this has been the largest venue I’ve performed in. I’d say there were a few thousand people in attendance each night. Super thrilling experience! Before it was time to sing the anthem, I got to hang out in the Judges Box, a very nice box that over looked the entire arena. When it was time to sing the anthem, I was escorted down to the platform by Allen, also know as the “Ring Master” (see photos below:) He was super sweet and it was an honor to have him escort me onto the podium. For me one of the coolest parts of the night, in addition to actually getting to sing the anthem, was hearing my voice echo through out the arena after every word and then hearing the crowds thunderous cheer as I got to the end of the song. They exploded after my high note on “Free” and continued to cheer as I sang, the last few words of the song. What a night. And I got to sing it two nights in a row.It was simply amazing!
